When I was in Cape Town recently I popped into the studio of James Mudge to take a look at his timber beauties. The clean lines and detailed jointing are manufactured on-site by a small team of artisans. As well as his signature pieces, he creates bespoke works. Recently featured in the French Elle décor, his work is sought after overseas now too. I'm looking forward to seeing the new showroom that he will be opening soon in an old building adjacent to his current workshop (it was being heavily hosed down while I was there). Photos from his website.
